Scholarships valued at $700,000 were awarded to seven Jamaican student-athletes by the Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce Pocket Rocket Foundation yesterday at Devon House in St. Andrew. The initiative, which was founded and chaired by the female sprint sensation Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce is focused on providing scholarships for athletes who excel in their academics. Awardees include: Campion College Student Brenton Bailey (volleyball), Kingston College student Jovaine Atkinson (Track and Field), Papine High School student Tahjia Lumley (Squash), Kimone Shaw of St. Jago (Track and Field), Mona High School Rojaire Bingham (Football, Cricket, Track and Field), and Shavar Scott from Ardenne High School (Volleyball).
