BBC under investigation for ‘glamourising drugs’ in Marley ganja report

BBC Radio 4’s Today programme is now under investigation by the UK telecoms regulator over whether it ‘glamourised’ drug use in a report on Bob Marley-branded ganja, Marley Natural. Last month, the Marley family announced the launch of the marijuana brand, which will be sold in markets where ganja is legal for medical or recreational consumption. The product was being discussed on the UK station on November 19 by business presenter, Simon Jack who was speaking to the chief executive of Privateer Holdings, which is behind the venture. The regulator is looking into whether the report “condoned, encouraged or glamourised the use of illegal substances” and into whether the report breached its broadcasting code.
