Despite recent prices increases, triggered by the slide in the value of the Jamaican dollar, consumers will be spared paying more for two basic food items, at least for now. This news comes from Derrick Nembhard, Managing Director of Jamaica Rice Mills and the Jamaica Flour Mills. Mr. Nembhard said that prices for the raw material used to produce flour have remained stable, so consumers will not have to pay more in the medium term. He said, the entity didn’t anticipate any movements in the price of flour as raw material prices have remained flat or trending down. Mr Nembhard added, that stability in the supply source also means no foreseeable price increase for rice.
