A policeman is in stable condition after he was reportedly attacked and injured by a man carrying a fishing gun in Trelawny yesterday evening. His attacker, who is said to be of unsound mind, was shot and killed by a licensed firearm holder. The incident took place about 6 o'clock in the community of Willshire on the border of Trelawny and St. James. Our news centre was informed that two policemen were travelling in a service vehicle when they stopped to conduct a spot check. The man reportedly walked up and fired the fishing gun hitting the policeman in the face. The licensed firearm holder, who was in the vicinity, shot the attacker who succumbed to his injuries. The injured cop was taken to hospital where he was admitted.
