Denbigh Showground hit with millions in theft and vandalism

Due to recent theft and vandalism at the 52–acre Denbigh Agricultural

Showground in May Pen, Clarendon, The Jamaica Agricultural Society (JAS),

which owns and operates the property, has reportedly suffered an estimated loss of

over $10 million. JAS President, Norman Grant, said equipment has been stolen

from several pavilions on the showground, significantly damaging a parish

pavilion and a children’s activity area. Security will have to be significantly

boosted so that despite this setback, this year’s staging will not be adversely

affected.
