Despite the spike in murders and other major crimes in St James, Police Commissioner, Owen Ellington, says the police in the parish are making headway in the fight against crime. During a tour of the St James Police Division on the weekend, Commissioner Ellington said previously the parish recorded more than 250 murders annually, but last year, it fell to about 150. He urged citizens to continue working with the police to rid the country of criminals. He noted that year to date there is a slight increase in crimes in St, James but every effort is being made to change that. On the national scene the rate is down in some divisions.
