THE National Solid Waste Management Authority (NSWMA) is planning to restrict the persons who access the Riverton City dump in an effort to prevent acts of arson. The issue has become more urgent as the dump has seen two large fires in as many months, one of which started on Friday and was still burning up to last night. Both fires were said to be set by arsonists. “A survey is going to be done to find out who are there, and register some of them,” said a source who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorised to speak with the press. According to the source, persons who are not registered will not be allowed on the sprawling property, located off Spanish Town Road in Kingston, and which has proved difficult to secure over the years.
