Ellington commends Police for latest Drugs and Guns seizure

Police Commissioner, Owen Ellington has congratulated the Marine Police who seized 600 pounds of ganja, guns and several assorted rounds of ammunition yesterday in Portland Cottage, Clarendon, during a search for two missing fishermen. The Police Commissioner issued his congratulations to the team, noting that their commitment to finding the men did not detract from their ability to recognize that something was amiss when they came upon the canoes. He reiterated the resolution of the Jamaica Constabulary Force and its Auxiliaries to continue to implement measures to stymie the efforts of those who would wish to bring further arms to criminal elements, noting that investigators believe that the find was linked to the drugs-for-guns trade. The Marine Police seized 600 pounds of compressed Ganja, 121 rounds of ammunition, and two shotguns, one Glock 40 pistol, one Bersa 9mm pistol and three mobile phones, inside two 28-foot canoes in a mangrove yesterday.
