Ellington: Criticism comes with the job

Police Commissioner, Owen Ellington says he will not be distracted by calls from human rights group Jamaicans For Justice (JFJ) for him to step down as head of the Jamaica Constabulary Force. Ellington, in his first comments since the call was issued last Friday, amidst an upsurge in crime, said he welcomed the criticism as it comes with the job. He made the comments minutes before delivering a lecture at the National Police College of Jamaica in Twickenham Park, St Catherine. According to the police commissioner, "any day that the JFJ and its executive director cannot criticize the commissioner of police without fear would be a blow for democracy.
