Family feud: Clive Chin sues VP Records co-founder, stepmom Patricia Chin for US$3 million

Clive Chin, son of the late Vincent ‘Randy’ Chin, who founded VP Records, has filed a lawsuit against his stepmother, seeking ownership of songs he allegedly wrote. Chin is seeking $341 million from his stepmother, Patricia, and three music companies he claims knowingly tried to scam him. Clive is claiming that he wrote more than 1,100 songs which were recorded by various Jamaican artistes and that the New York-based VP Music Group is licensing them without permission. Responding to the claim, Patricia indicated that the copyrights of the music were part of the ‘marital estate’ left by her husband.
