Flash Flood Warning still in effect for central, eastern parishes

The Meteorological Service has continued a Flash Flood Warning for low-lying and flood-prone areas of St Ann, St Mary, Portland, St Thomas, Kingston and St Andrew, St Catherine, Clarendon and Manchester until 5:00 pm today. A Flash Flood Watch was also continued for low-lying and flood-prone areas of Hanover, St James, Trelawny, Westmoreland and St Elizabeth. The Met Service says as the persistent trough lingers across Jamaica it continues to influence the weather conditions across the island. Prime Minister Andrew Holness and representatives from the emergency services will today tour the parishes worst hit by this week&;s flood rains. Holness who was in the Dominican Republic cut short his visit and returned to the island last night to deal with the damage caused by heavy rainfall in sections of the island.
