The National Works Agency (NWA) today announced that the Forum Bridge in Portmore, St Catherine, will be closed temporarily on Friday. The bridge’s closure will last for three months. The temporary closure is to facilitate repairs to the bridge’s superstructure. A detour road has been constructed adjacent to the bridge construction site, to allow for the movement of traffic and pedestrians during its temporary closure. This detour road will be opened to motorists and pedestrians on Friday, however, operators of heavy-duty vehicles will not be allowed to use it. One way directional flow northbound for motorists travelling in the direction of the Toll Plaza will operate during the morning peak hours from 5:00 am to 9:00 am and in the evening, one way directional flow will operate southbound from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Motorists are being advised to obey the instructions of the police and the traffic signals that are posted at both approaches to the bridge.
