Government scaling back services at Cornwall Regional

The government is scaling down operations at the main building at Cornwall Regional Hospital in Montego Bay as it seeks to carry out rehabilitative work to fix ventilation issues at the facility. Nurses have been complaining about an increase in noxious fumes at the hospital since last month. Speaking at an emergency news conference at Jamaica House Tuesday, Health Minister Dr Christopher Tufton said steps have been taken to relocate most of the patients at Cornwall Regional. Meanwhile, the timeline for the completion of rehabilitative work at the hospital has been adjusted. It was originally set for next month. The Minister explained that the scope of work has shifted and it will take until November for the full restoration of the facilities.
