Granulated sugar to also get new labelling standards

New labelling standards are coming for granulated sugar sold in Jamaica. A decision has been made to include the commodity in recently announced standards governing the packaging and labelling of brown sugar. This was announced on Wednesday by Minister of Agriculture Karl Samuda, who was speaking at the Jamaica Stock Exchange’s 12th Regional Investment and Capital Markets Conference in Kingston. Effective July 1, it will be mandatory for all sugar to be packaged and labelled in accordance with the Bureau of Standards requirements.
