Former national heavyweight boxer Wendell Joseph and his wife Erica, escaped serious harm yesterday after an intruder tossed what appeared to be scratch bombs into their tent at the Queen's Park Savannah in Trinidad and Tobago at about 2:00 am. Joseph, an amputee, said she was having difficulty sleeping and was sitting on the mattress when she heard a noise outside the tent. The intruder attempted to take Joseph’s wheelchair but was unsuccessful. At that point, Joseph said, the man threw a small lighted device, which exploded within seconds, scorching the mattress and sheet. She also queried why the Government and the Housing Development Corporation were taking so long to allocate the couple a ground-floor apartment that is equipped for the disabled.
