Up to J$1m to remove a single JPS pole, says NWA

The National Works Agency (NWA) says it costs up to $1 million or more to remove a single JPS pole from a roadway. According to the JPS, subsequent to this, the sidewalk was built up around the poles. But NWA Communications Manager Stephen Shaw countered that saying that “The NWA has not been undertaking work in urban areas and leaving poles in the middle of sidewalks”. This is in response to claims that one of its poles on Golding Avenue in Papine forced wheelchair-bound Marlon King into the roadway to be killed by a JUTC bus.
