amaica Customs has reduced the stamp duty on some alcoholic beverages, effective today. The agency says the reduced rate will affect beverages such as wines, liquors and cordials. Beverages which attracted a duty of US$1.60 now attract a rate of US$1.00 per litre, while the US$0.90 applied to beers has been dropped to US $0.60 per litre. And, alcoholic beverages are not the only items which have seen a reduction in rates. Jamaica Customs says the import duty relief on motor cars sourced by Car Rental Companies and Tour Operators, as well as Contract Carriage Operators, has been extended. The relief has been in place since January 1 as part of the provisions under the Omnibus legislation.
