Jamaican women advised to delay pregnancy due to threat of Zika virus

The Ministry of Health has issued an advisory to women to delay becoming pregnant for the next six to twelve months given the possible link between the Zika virus and birth defects. Women who are already pregnant should take extra precaution to avoid being bitten by mosquitoes as Zika could cause microcephaly. The virus however has not been detected in Jamaica, but has been confirmed in nearby territories.
