MediCanja, Jamaica’s first medical Ganja company was yesterday launched at the Eden Garden Wellness Resort and Spa in Kingston. The company was launched by Professor Henry Lowe, Executive Chairman of Biotech Research and Development Institute (BioTech) to capitalise on the market for medical Ganja. Industry, Investment and Commerce Minister Dr. Anthony Hylton was the official guest at the company launch. At the launch Professor Lowe, noted that Jamaica was the first country in the world to develop a commercial product from Ganja, called Canasol used to treat glaucoma and that it would be unfortunate if the island lost out to a booming multi-billion dollar industry, where the hemp industry is valued at more than US$2 billion a year in Canada.
