Commonwealth Games champion Kaliese Spencer will not be part of the final process to decide the IAAF Athlete of the Year award as she failed to make it to the top three after a vote by the World athletics family. Spencer had her best season as a senior, won her first major title and won her fourth IAAF Diamond trophy and the Inter-Continental Cup. The former Mannings School athlete was beaten once all season and had six of the top eight times run over the even this year as she dominated the event. The male and female finalists are- Qatari high jumper Mutaz Essa Barshim, Kenyan distance runner Dennis Kipruto Kimetto and French pole vaulter Renaud Lavillenie among the men and New Zealand shot putter Valerie Adams, Ethiopian distance runner Genzebe Dibaba and Dutch heptathlete and European sprinter double champion Dafne Schippers.
