Last Day To Make Submissions On Proposed Toll Increase

Today is the last day for members of the public to make submissions to the Transport Ministry on the proposed toll increases for the North-South Link of Highway 2000. If the increases are approved some motorists could pay up to $490 more to travel on the highway which runs from the Caymanas in St Catherine to Mammee Bay in St Ann.The Transport Ministry says the request for a toll rate increase by the highway operators is partly due to traffic volume being lower than expected. But the National Council of Taxi Associations says reducing the toll rates could improve traffic volumes.
