Michael Peart, the Member of Parliament for the constituency of South Manchester has announced that he will not be seeking re-election at the polls at the end of this five-year term. Peart told constituents on Sunday that in three years he will be completing five successive terms as a Member of Parliament and the time has come to pass on the baton. Peart’s successor will be Michael Stewart, a former president of the Jamaica Teachers Association (JTA) and Principal of the Porus High School.
