Millions Spent On Public Education Campaign For Plastic Bag Ban

The government has revealed that $30 million has been spent to date, on a public education campaign raising awareness about the ban on plastic bags - a ban that has been in place since January 1.

In a speech delivered yesterday by Senator Matthew Samuda Minister Without Portfolio in the Ministry of Economic Growth and Job Creation, said several government entities have been involved in the campaign.

He also said that town hall meetings have been held in nearly all parishes with stakeholders as part of the public education campaign.

Samuda was speaking at a Jamaica Standards Network meeting in St Andrew.
