NEPA Warns To Avoid Crocodile Habitats During Heavy Rains

The National Environment and Planning Agency (NEPA) is advising the public to exercise caution in areas close to crocodile habitats as the heavy rains are likely to displace the animals.

According to NEPA, these areas include swamps, rivers and gullies.

The agency also reminded the public not to provoke crocodiles as they are one of Jamaica's many endangered animal species and will become defensive if cornered or attacked.

NEPA further urged the public to report crocodile sightings by calling the agency at 876-754-7540 or toll-free 888-991-5005, as well as the police at 119 or make a report to the nearest police station.
