Nineteen road fatalities recorded in 18 days

The country is continuing the trend of about one road fatality per day as nineteen persons have died in crashes in the first 18 days of the year. Pedestrians account for 53 per cent of the fatalities, while 37 per cent of the incidents involved motorcyclists. Data show 47 per cent of the fatalities occurred in Clarendon, Hanover and St. Andrew. The Road Safety Unit is still projecting a 15 per cent decline in road fatalities this year when compared to 2016.
