It has been reported that a total of $117.80 million has been spent in the last two years by Prime Minister Portia Simpson-Miller and members of her Cabinet on overseas travels. Prime Minister Simpson-Miller gave the break down in parliament in response to questions tabled in the House of Representatives. Mrs. Simpson-Miller revealed that she travelled a total of twenty-five (25) times, ten (10) times in 2012 and fifteen (15) times in 2013, which amounted to $15 million dollars being spent. It was also reported that $6.5 million of this amount was spent on a trip to Ethiopia where the Prime Minister stated that she met with African leaders, and added that this trip was important as it struck an ancestral chord. The Prime Minister also blasted the Opposition for questioning the validity of her trips to the African Union.
