PNP Calls For Suitable Location For Police Records Office

Opposition spokesman on national security, Fitz Jackson, is calling on the Minister of National Security, Horace Chang, to find a suitable location to temporarily house the Police Records Office.

The building, which is located on 34 Duke Street, was closed for repairs on September 15 due to poor air quality.

He said while he appreciates the need for the immediate closure of the facility to protect the health and well-being of the police personnel, other workers and members of the public, it is disconcerting no suitable arrangements were made for the continuation of essential services.

Pointing out that Jamaicans have travelled from across the country to the records office to find its doors closed with no clear indication as to when it would be reopened, Jackson described the situation as “unfair” to the public.
