Election Day workers, police and soldiers are to go to the polls on Friday November 25, three days before the rest of the population votes in Jamaica's 16th local government election. The Local Government Minister Desmond McKenzie yesterday announced the November 28 election date. Jamaicans will be voting on the old Voters' List since the election has been called before November 30 when the new list was due to be published. The publication of the new Voters' List has been pushed back to December 31. This means that Voter Identification Cards will become available by the end of January 2017. The EOJ also says of the $1.3 billion budgeted for the holding of the elections, it expects to receive approximately $220 million by Monday, November 17.
