The Chairman of the board of the Prickly Pole Primary and infant school in St Ann is expected to host a press conference today following the death of a student last Friday. The school’s principal and the child’s mother are also expected to be in attendance. The press conference follows controversy surrounding the death of 11-year-old Akelia Lewis, who had a heart condition. Reports emerged that Akelia fell ill on a bus, which was transporting people including students to a protest against the Member of Parliament for South East St Ann Lisa Hanna. Akelia later died. The situation was condemned by the education and youth ministers, with the Youth Minister Lisa Hanna who is the MP, asking the Child Development Agency (CDA) to investigate.
