Probe into Horses death continues

The Jamaica Veterinary Medical Association is waiting on data that will assist in determining how the food fed to several thoroughbred horses at the Caymanas Track came in contact with the substance that killed them.

In May, nearly thirty horses at track in the central parish of St. Catherine became ill after having a meal, with 12 of them later dying.

The substance that contaminated their food was identified and the manufacturer Hi-Pro feeds limited has started an investigation.

Dr Sophia Ramlal , a member of the continuing education committee of the Jamaica Veterinary Medical Association, says it is still not known where in the production chain the contamination took place.
