The Private Sector Organization of Jamaica (PSOJ) is demanding that an immediate hold be placed on Wednesday’s scheduled announcement of the preferred bidder for the 360 megawatt project. To bolster its demand, the organization's president, Chris Zacca, is threatening to walk out of a special meeting called for 11:00 o'clock by the Office of Utilities Regulation (OUR) if it decides to announce the bidder. This follows Tuesday’s release of the findings of the Office of the Contractor-General’s (OCG’s) investigation into the energy project. The PSOJ had long raised questions about how the bidding process was handled. Mr. Zacca stated that based on the information revealed, the decision on the selected bidder must be delayed until the issues raised in the OCG's report are ventilated.
