Regular classes resumed this morning at Tacky High School in Gayle, St Mary. Classes were cancelled last week Monday after a fire lit by robbers destroyed the administrative building that housed the staff room, the records area, canteen, book room and the multipurpose hall. Principal of Tacky High, Errol Bascoe, says several buildings and rooms have been converted into temporary facilities to accommodate students and staff. Meanwhile, nearby schools had to accommodate grade 11 students sitting external examinations. Four masked men allegedly gained entry to Tacky High and set fire to the school after a security guard could not provide them with information on a vault in the bursar’s office. The preliminary estimate of the damage from the fire is $45 million.
