The RIU Resort Hotel in Montego Bay remains closed following last week's explosion at the property which left one employee dead and four others injured. The employees were injured when a fire broke out in the boiler room of the hotel. Homer Davis, Mayor of Montego Bay, said the property will remain closed until the St. James Municipal Corporation completes its investigation into the incident. One of the employees suffered major burns to 75 per cent of his body and is expected to be flown to Miami for treatment. The others remain in hospital. The guests at the US$60 million hotel were transferred to other properties operated by the hotel chain.
