Road fatalities down by 2%

The Road Safety Unit in the Transport Ministry is reporting a two per cent reduction in the number of road fatalities so far this year, when compared to 2015. There have been 175 persons killed in 152 crashes. In the meantime, SSP Allen says the police have issued more than 50,000 tickets and removed more than 1,000 registration plates since the start of Operation Zero Tolerance in May. He is urging road users to refrain from traffic violations.
