The Savanna-la-Mar Hospital recently received a fully equipped Special Care Unit built to enhance care for new-borns. Issa Trust Foundation set up the Unit and also donated $24 million worth of critical care equipment such as nebulisers, ventilators, and warmers. The foundation has also arranged training for personnel in the Special Care Unit. Chairman of the Issa Trust Foundation and hotelier, Paul Issa formally handed over the equipment to the hospital on Tuesday April 19.“We are very pleased,” Issa said. “Mothers can now have confidence that … if their babies are distressed in anyway, they will get the best treatment possible.” A similar unit has been established at the St Ann’s Bay Hospital.
