Six-Year-Old Child Shot And Injured In March Pen, St Catherine

The Jamaica Constabulary Force is reporting that a six-year-old child was shot and injured in March Pen, St Catherine Wednesday afternoon. According to the police, the child has been hospitalised. The police could not immediately provide further details on the incident. Two children have been shot dead in gun battles between rival gangs in Kingston and St Mary in the past month. On Sunday, Opposition Leader, Portia Simpson Miller complained that she had heard "not a peep" from the Andrew Holness-led administration about the killing or wounding of children in recent times. More than 1,500 children have been murdered in Jamaica since the year 2000.
