St. James, Clarendon and St. Catherine North police divisions have accounted for the highest number of murders for the period January 1 to September 23. As at last Friday, September 23 the murder figure stood at 919. This was 2.6 per cent more when compared to the corresponding period last year. St. James recorded 195 murders for the period under review. Clarendon police division recorded 107 murders. St. Catherine North recorded 86 murders. The Portland police division recorded eight cases of homicide up to September 24. Trelawny, St. Elizabeth and St. Thomas recorded less than 20 murders.
