THERE’LL BE EYES IN THE SKY: Commish says crime-fight plan for drones still on

Police say plans to implement the use of drones in St. James to fight crime has not been forgotten. Initially, the plan was to commence 6 months after it was announced in February 2015. Constable Carl Williams raised the issue in an outline of the constabulary’s plans to put a lid on violent crimes breaking out in sections of St James. The commissioner gave no new date for launch of the programme, neither did he say the reason for the delay in putting eyes in the sky. This will give the police quicker and easier access to crime scenes, as well as hard- to-access areas in the parish such as Flanker, Canterbury, and sections of Norwood, which are violence-prone.
