Jamaica opened its Under-17 women's World Cup qualifying bid with a 2-nil victory over El Salvador on Wednedsay evening in Montego Bay. Asia Lee-Fatt scored both goals for the Jamaicans who have an early lead in the group. Their other challengers Mexico and Haiti had drawn 1-1 in the other group encounter. The teams are battling for one of two spots to the World Cup in Costa Rica. The championship continues on Friday with Trinidad and Tobago battling the United States, after Guatemala faces Canada.
