Disruptions in academic activities at the University of Technology UTech) are expected today as members of the teaching staff have taken industrial action. The UTech Academic Staff Union has indicated that its members have agreed to withdraw their services. The decision was made at a meeting Wednesday evening. There have been long-standing issues between the administration and staff, but what has triggered the protest, is what the union calls the victimization of two of its members. Meredith Williams, secretary of the UTech Academic Staff Union, said the withdrawal of teaching services is to send a message to the administration.
